7: What do you do when everything goes wrong?

Today has been possibly the least productive day I’ve had – certainly the worst in a long while.

Nothing at work has gone well – I have been out of class for a lot of it with PPA and PPA catch up from time I’ve missed recently. Normally, I can get a lot of little jobs done. The planning P of PPA is something I never touch at school as I can get far more done far quicker at home. However, I’m fairly sure that fixing USB cables and laptops isn’t something I should be doing with my time. I end up doing so because I have fallen into a triage-style way of working for our main technician – a wonderful guy who is with us for just one morning a week. This is just about enough to cater for our needs, but if I didn’t catch the issues I do, he would get nothing done through the firefighting he would be doing!

So, what do you do when everything goes wrong? Well, from today’s experience, you pick yourself up and simply get on with sorting it out. If you can’t do that, you seek help. As I write this, I am receiving a number of emails to help me find a solution to another problem that has arisen and we will get there.

These events have meant that I’ve been in a total grumpy mood for much of the day, which is never good… Tomorrow will be better.
