After a long-ish journey, we arrived at the circuit in time for first practice. It had been raining fairly heavily – enough for wet tyres to be needed. We missed a lot of the early action though and so didn’t see the Lotus or McLaren cars at all in that session. We watched this from Woodcote corner. This was followed by a practice session for the GP2 drivers and a change of location to the International Pit Straight stand. I knew this would be busy, so we stayed there until the second F1 practice session was over – it gave us an overview of the pit lane from a distance, a little too far away to be worth the money they charge in my view and I couldn’t watch a whole race from there as you’d see little of the action. For the final section of the day, the GP2 qualifying session, we relocated once more to Club corner where you can see down the pit straight and from the braking point at the end of Hangar straight.
I have taken many photos… here are a selection.
