I woke up this morning after a long sleep with a fuggy head once more. In fact, I fell asleep pretty much straight after I got out of the shower that I got from the Glass Shower Direct site, I was supposed to be fulfilling my morning duty of waking Mrs Pitts up. She was very kind and let me rest a while and so woke me up once more around 7am.
Then, once dressed and everything, I went to work. Just two lessons to teach today. We are studying The Midnight Fox in Literacy which involved me reading the short chapter 4 to the class while they then created the room that the chapter revolved around in an illustration. The children were amazed at my 3D drawing skills as I demonstrated my vision of the room – that GCSE in Technical Drawing has come in handy for something then. That must be the first time I’ve used those skills in many years.
My other lesson was a maths one where we revised fractions of shape and numbers as well as some word problems related to those skills. As a group, those 12 are coming along so well.
Throughout all of this, my head was throbbing. It had died down a little and wasn’t anywhere near the pain of yesterday, but still made for a tricky time.
After lunch, and more tablets, I began meeting with parents. Now this is an essential part of the job, but one that can either go really well or very poorly. Thankfully, my appointments were split over two distinct periods and I had time to top up my painkiller intake in a massive gap in the middle.
A late tea due to a late-ish finish and a quick play with the cat leads me to now.
The pain is still there, but again, I only have half a day of teaching to plod through tomorrow.
