Whenever I need to focus, I have music on. Doesn’t generally matter what it is – sometimes I just shuffle, sometimes I go orchestral/instrumental, sometimes I need things like brass bands or ‘classical’ (hate that term – it’s so broad and doesn’t really describe anything).
Because music is a huge part of my life anyway, the sheer presence of it usually does the trick, that’s why for this I use the best speakers I found reading this cyber acoustics 2.1 speaker system review.
I firmly believe that you can’t go far wrong with Brahms – a string quartet or two – or Palestrina, who devoted his work to calm, relaxing music; although he takes a bit of getting used to because of when he wrote. He is worth sticking with though I think. JS Bach’s Goldberg Variations are lovely and soothing, like most of his secular work. Going even deeper, Sibelius has a simple, calming feel – Valse Triste is a delight. Likewise Hovhannes’ Nocturne for Harp and Gorecki’s Third Symphony.
