I don’t think I’ve written a blog with this title before – which is a surprise given the nature of my 366 question challenge. (Blog 15 was “how was your week?“)
Anyway, there wasn’t a huge amount in my day to be honest. It was a normal Monday full of PPA, Read, Write, Inc and Computing and French in Year 3. I have also tried to make some more things with the 3D printer at work. I still have only made the duck so far, and that is one model that comes with the equipment. Everything I’ve designed so far has failed for one reason or another. I left a part printing overnight on Friday, but returned to a mess of plastic all over this morning. I left another, smaller, thing printing this evening and hope it works well.
I do have a feeling that a heated print bed would help keep larger items stuck to the printing area – when I’ve watched them, they tend to come unstuck after a while as the plastic cools and warps. I have a few favours to call in and I’m sure that is something some of my geekier friends could help me with. The other thing is the filament feeds – the setup as it is, creates very sharp bends for the plastic to be fed around. A shorter feed, from the top – as opposed to from underneath and then up and through – might help with filament breakages.
All of these theories I’m putting into practice as time goes on. Still, I’m having fun finding out!
