95: What is a square date?

I am a fan of square numbers.

Today is a totally square day, and it happens only once every few years. As I’m sure you know, a square number is arrived at by multiplying a number by its own self. So 2 times 2 is 4, and 3 times 3 is 9.4 and 9 are called “square” because they are the area of a square shape that’s 2 feet tall and 2 feet

4 and 9 are called square because they are the area of a square shape that’s 2 units tall and 2 units wide, or 3 units by 3 units.

Today is April 4th, 2016, the 4th day of the 4th month, so we write it as 04/04/16 – and 4 times 4 is 16,

The next ones will be:

  • 5th May 2025
  • 6th June 2036
  • 7th July 2049
  • 8th August 2064
  • 9th September 2081
  • 10th October 2100 – depending if we write it as 10/10/100
  • 11th November 2121
  • 12th December 2144

I enjoy dates like this.
