It’s agonising!
I have been asked to play for a band I know nothing about with minimal rehearsal time for the Yorkshire Brass Band Area Finals in just over a week’s time. Other commitments mean that I will only see the piece 3 or 4 times before performing it at the contest.
In many ways, that’s quite liberating. It’s nice to be thought of as someone who is capable of stepping into a hole left be another player and getting on with it. What is daunting is the fact that I don’t know the piece or the expectations upon me.
The first time I will play it is on Saturday. On stage. In front of an audience.
That will be fun.
