Linkage Updates

This has got to be the most productive I’ve ever been, 11 – now 12 – updates in eight days.

I know it won’t last, so make the best of it. I’ll get distracted by work again and things will tail off.

I have actually enjoyed doing all of this writing, it’s been a rare treat. I will do my very best to write regularly so it’ll be worth people toddling by… and I do hope that people stumble across this place and get drawn in by the ramblings of someone who is, quite obviously, an idiot.

Recently, I added a few links down the right hand side. They’ve been there in the past, but there weren’t quite so many. They show that this site is a member of some blog rings, that is, something that gathers blogs together that have a common theme. The problem with what I write is that there is no actual theme as such and so I had to join rings that were more geographical. So the rings I’m a member of, and why I chose them, are:
Leeds Blogs – I live just outside Leeds, and

  • work even further away from it, and although I rarely write about the city itself I do love the place. I’m proud to be one of the 38 sites there, even though it’s probably the smallest community I’m part of.
  • Blogging Brits – a more general ring admittedly, and far harder to find statistics about other sites…
  • Blogorama – chosen because I just love the name, and also because then i’m part of 64,041 other sites – which may increase the people that read.
  • Globe Of Blogs – chosen for it’s wide variety of other sites, 60,953 others to be precise. I know this site is totally insignificant really but I do love that feeling of being part of something bigger!
  • BritBlog – 8,035 blogs are here. What I like about this is that it’s growing quickly and more sites are joining all the time.
  • Bloggernity – a massive directory of sites. I was one of 51 added on that alone.

Finally, there’s GeoURL – not a ring or directory as such at all, but it lists other sites that are close in locality to where I am. This web thing can seem pretty lonely at times, but knowing there’s other sites around me gives me a sense of comfort in a way. That’s hard to explain!

Actually, although I go on about the number of people viewing the site, it doesn’t bother me too much if this remains a purely personal thing of folly. I would like readers to make comments on posts, I would like it to be seen by more than just a handful of people. I want to have people resond to what I write… but it’s not the end of the world if it doesn’t happen.

The point of this post originally was to talk about the stuff down the side and explain the reasons for the links and how they work. It ended up with a bit of a moan in the end and it’s not very interesting… sorry. I shall certainly try harder next time.

In fact, I’ll go and look for a funny photo now to make up for it!
