100 days ago we, Mrs Pitts and I, started a bit of a challenge by accident. This was to break our geocaching streak record. Before this July it stood at 50 days straight of finds. It currently stands at 100 consecutive days of finds.
On the 10th July we found the first of these caches and have grabbed over 200 since then over the 100 days, including our 1000th find on Ilkley Moor. I wish I could remember most of these caches, but in truth, so many of them have been easy to get, fairly uninteresting caches. That is the only way to build up something like this – careful planning and thinking about your personal circumstances are key.
Either way, it’s a wonderful achievement.
Alongside this blog, which is clearly written every day, geocaching is something that I feel so lucky to be able to devote my time to. It’s similar to writing – some days the smallest scrap of writing will do, where nothing has happened that matters yet others will be incredible long lengths of prose… (admittedly not often these days). Some days, the caches we find are simple ones that are invisible and not wonderful – those which are necessary for the numbers. Yet others, such as the one on Ilkley Moor, will stick with me for a long time.
