The majority of today was spent getting ready or playing at Golcar Lily Day with Grange Moor Band.
The band sounded fairly good. I had a cracking time on drums, some of the best playing I’ve done in a while. The weather was decent, but windy. As a result, both Mrs Pitts and I were cold. A coffee was in order. Luckily we knew where there was a decent sized Costa in the area, so a quick Google for the postcode and the sat nav took us there.
It was only after we had drunk our coffee that we noticed the horrendous traffic. Chosen Costa was right by the John Smith’s Stadium, formerly the Galpharm Stadium and before that the Alfred McAlpine Stadium home to both Huddersfield Town and Huddersfield Giants. Normally not an issue, but today it had seen the Challenge Cup Rugby League match between Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Rhinos. The Giants had won, 24 to 8. Not that you’d know, there were very few jubilant people around. The traffic though was a nightmare. Hated it.
An hour and a half later, we returned home. I watched the rest of qualifying, wrote my report for it, and then it was time for Doctor Who. Now, I’ll admit that the recent episodes really haven’t been that great – very rushed and the stories haven’t always been wonderful. Tonight’s, however, was sublime. Brilliant in fact.
We had a quick trip to Tesco’s for the week’s shopping – quite late though – picked up our tea on the way home and watched a bit of TV. That has brought us to here!
