Tomorrow is Mrs Pitts’ birthday so we went for a meal to celebrate tonight – a little unusual I grant you, but Leeds on a Friday night is not a place we wanted to be. Plus the restaurant we wanted to visit, Fazenda’s, is more expensive on a Friday!
We’d heard about it through friends, and researched their website:
Fazenda features continuous table side service of fifteen different delectable cuts of beef, pork, lamb and chicken. Our concept also offers a sumptuous buffet of gourmet salads and fresh cut vegetables, and a variety of traditional side dishes to complement the meats.
Customers control their services with a small green and red-side chip. The green side signals the gaucho chefs to bring out skewers of sizzling meats to the table, while the red side indicates a stopping point. To resume service, simply display the green side again.
Indeed, the system works well. The chefs make sure that each piece of meat you receive isn’t too large so that you can experience many different types. In all, I reckon that I had around 10 different styles of meat, including chicken hearts.
Alongside the meat, there is the well stocked salad bar which caters for all kinds of tastes – dried apricots anyone?! – and there were some hidden gems too. The coleslaw tonight was lovely!
Our meal was finished off with a complementary caipirinha, which I got for Mrs Pitts (I don’t drink) by checking in on FourSquare (they do the same offer for checking in on Facebook too). As well as this, I was reminded to make sure I claimed it as they tweeted me mid-meal! You can’t beat that for service.
To top off a lovely evening, there was a geocache within 100m (GC2E8FW), and today was a gap in our calendar. Perfect!
