March isn’t often the victim of a snow day. The last one was a whole 60 days ago and, to be honest, that was the last I expected of poor weather. However, it has continued, and today saw a silly amount of snow drop from the sky.
There was a brief halt to it around 1 o’clock, where a slight thaw began, but it continued later on and is still falling now.
My school was closed but Mrs Pitts’ wasn’t, meaning I got a bonus day with Kit, who was a little scared of the snow – or at least appeared to be given the amount of meowing she was making first thing this morning.
This also meant that Sky Sports F1 was on for most of the day as the practice sessions for the Malaysian Grand Prix had happened over night. The end of the second session was on just as I got the text about the closure, but I looked at the schedule and enjoyed the complete 1999 Malaysian Grand Prix (this was the inaugural race at the Sepang circuit and was won by Eddie Irvine after Michael Schumacher‘s return that season following a broken leg at Silverstone). This was particularly enjoyable for me as Murray Walker was commentating and I had remembered that it was a win for Schumacher… You can’t win them all.
Following this there were replays of both practice session which were very interesting. David Croft and Johnny Herbert were commentating and they tend to focus on the more technical aspects of the sport during this time. I suppose only hardcore fans would watch something that is fairly insignificant as far as the result is concerned anyway, so that approach makes perfect sense.
Anyway, while all this was on the TV, I was levelling writing – a thoroughly boring job but one that’s necessary for my job. This was a part of my weekend plan but it frees a fair bit of time up.
Kit has also realised that we have fish over the past couple of days. Oh dear.
