255: What is it like to play at Holy Innocent’s Church, Thornhill Lees?

Fun! The rain mostly held off. Grange Moor sounded great today. Here are the photos I took.
Today, I played percussion in a park job for Tingley Brass Band, helping out a long time friend of ours. It has been a hot day, which makes for a great time, but difficult to drum in. Follow the two hours there with a two hour Grange Moor rehearsal, and you have a tired man […]
An early start to band tonight for the Grange Moor Brass Band AGM means that the day has been compressed a little. I have, so far: had my haircut – I love a Sunday opening barber; been to B&Q to buy compost and various other gardening things; including a call to the mold inspection experts […]
Not that much to be honest. Grange Moor had two concerts today, although I only played at one – I conducted the other. I’m actually quite tired after it! I also have a blister on my finger. Bad times.

Think about it, players generally haven’t touched their instruments over the break – this could be two or three weeks. Believe it or not, banding is a hobby. We aren’t paid […]
Alive, I be. (There has to be the tradiotional International Talk Like A Pirate Day reference somewhere after all… Life has been busy – with not a huge amount to discuss. Currently I am: working on the website of the school I work in. That began as a lick of paint but ended up as a […]
So… this blogging thing. Let’s do some! I’ve decided that, if I can’t make or find time to blog every day, I can at least make an effort to do one a month. I may just do something like this – which is a round up of things I’ve done in January – or might […]
Today was full of banding. I conducted with the Morley And District Concert Band for two hours this afternoon, then played with Grange Moor this evening. The Christmas spirit is truly flowing now. I grabbed a cache while out in Leeds to fill the gap we had and continue towards our 175 day find aim. […]
