This afternoon I had the pleasure of conducting the Morley And District Concert Band at Morley Academy’s September Fair. This was a lovely little event raising funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the school’s performing arts department and other worthy charities.
However, it is 15 years since I set foot in those buildings and many wonderful – and some less wonderful – memories came flooding back. The grounds have changed in the intervening years, with newer buildings having been added to the grounds and some older ones having had some modernisation. The food tech room, from the outside, looked the same as did the woodwork rooms. I know the old music block is used for other things these days too. Overall, I enjoyed my hour or so back there. I didn’t see the innards of the place really, but would be interested in doing so at some point. Maybe.
