This has long been my favourite song – easily in the last ten years, possibly longer. I just adore the orchestration, the build up, Neil Hannon’s voice… there is a lot about it I love.
The whole album, A Short Album About Love, is wondrous. It is full of big, indulgent music which really grabs me. It was this album that cemented my adoration for Neil Hannon as a musician. Joby Talbot’s work on the music also sent me off to further explore his orchestral works.
The Divine Comedy has been a constant in my life for many years and I hope it shall remain so for a long time to come. I eagerly await a new album due this year.
