The double century has been reached. Impressive work.
Today was the last Friday at school. For some reason, Kirklees has decided we will break up on a Tuesday this year, so there are still two more work days to go. This has been a worrying trend in recent years, odd days being added on to the end of the year – technically, I work 195 days each academic year, but the last day has tended to fall on a Monday for the last three or four years. This can be dealt with through additional training late after school for instance. Doing that for two days is difficult to say the least, so we’re stuck with these two anomalous days where little meaningful work will be done.
Tonight, though, was a night for celebration. Three of my old colleagues where Mrs Pitts works are leaving at the end of Tuesday – two retirements and one moving to another post – and a social gathering was required. Lots of good chat and general merriment was had! We popped out of the gathering for around half an hour as we went to find a geocache – there are, after all, now only two gaps left in July.
The party is the reason for the lateness of this blog… tomorrow’s will appear earlier than normal too due to a birthday party, because that’s the party animal that I am.
