The majority of today was spent thinking about a 3 mile walk which will (all being well) cover 13 geocaches, leading to an additional bonus cache.
The locations for these are all around Cleckheaton and Gomersal – the route links the two. Currently, there are only really three caches nearby and our route encompasses those. Mrs Pitts had planned the majority of the route, knowing the area far better than I do, and our job was to find out where exactly we could hide them.
We currently only have one cache hidden out there, in Gildersome, (GC30PJJ) on the Green. That has been found 93 times since it was published on 23rd July 2011. Routes tend to be very popular though – the number of people searching for Cenotaph View rose hugely when Hunky Hamster’s Frustration series was in the locality – and we hope many more people attempt this one!
There is a rule that caches have to more than 161m away from each other. We fell foul of this rule a little when planning the route but a slight tweak to one of the placements has hopefully fixed that. The next step for us is to make sure we have all the physical cache containers that we want to place then get them out there before placing them all online. Exciting!
