Lots has popped into my head to write about today.
Five years ago today, I began seeing the lovely Mrs Pitts – that’s clearly an important milestone in both our lives. It doesn’t feel like 1826 days have been spent with each other, but that’s what it is.
Also, it is St. David’s Day and I came across this lovely maths puzzle which reminded me of our trip to this place in August 2010:
The longest place name in the UK is a small village on the island of Anglesey in North Wales. When allocating each letter of the English alphabet a numerical value, a=1 b=2 c=3 . . . z=26, what is the total value of LLANFAIRPWLLGWYNGYLLGOGERYCHWYRNDROBWLLLLANTISILIOGOGOGOCH when adding the individual letters?
That was set by 7Puzzle, where I gain inspiration for many maths activities.
Today was the first in a while that I’ve felt almost normal again – I’m still not great, but not bad overall – just in time for the Yorkshire Brass Band Area Championship weekend. I have quite a number of small tasks to complete for work too, but I wouldn’t be going to Bradford with Knottingley on Sunday without Mrs Pitts being in my life.
In F1, we’ve had the first driver change already, with just over 15 days before the first race weekend in Australia. Luiz Razia told has lost his Marussia drive because of a sponsor payment problem and Jules Bianchi will take his place. Also, right now we are in the middle of the final test in Barcelona, which is being shown live on Sky’s F1 channel. Swapping my PPA at work this week to Friday afternoon came in handy to watch this!
Speaking of Formula One, as usual I’ve entered a free to play fantasy Formula 1 game at fantasyracers.com. I’ve created a league for friends of mine. If you wish to join me, the details are:
- League Name: The Pitts Friends
- League Number: 611
- League Password: You’ll need to email me for this… either using the contact form or at thomas [at] thomasjpitts . co . uk (removing spaces and replacing [at] with @)
The day was ended with a long play with Kit:
