Quarry Bank Mill\u00a0(also known as\u00a0Styal Mill) in\u00a0Styal,\u00a0Cheshire, England, is one of the best preserved\u00a0textile mills\u00a0of the\u00a0Industrial Revolution\u00a0and is now a museum of the cotton industry. Built in 1784, the mill is recorded in the\u00a0National Heritage List for England\u00a0as a designated Grade\u00a0II listed building, and inspired the 2013 television series\u00a0The Mill.<\/p>\n
This was our second visit to Quarry Bank Mill – we first visited it in 2008.<\/p>\n
Quarry Bank Mill is on the outskirts of\u00a0Styal\u00a0in\u00a0Cheshire, to the south of\u00a0Manchester Airport. The mill is on the bank of the\u00a0River Bollin\u00a0which provided water to power the waterwheels. It was connected by road to the\u00a0Bridgewater Canal\u00a0for transporting raw cotton from the port of Liverpool.<\/p>\n
We also visited nearby Styal Village, where the cottages for mill workers were built and I managed to capture images of a playful squirrel.<\/p>\n
