(30 Day Song Challenge: Day 26)

A long time ago, in what feels like a galaxy far away, which was actually Morley in the early 21st Century, I played this piece of music as part of my A-Level recital alongside Mrs Wilkinson (?), one of the music teachers. I recall rehearsing this for months but realised recently that it had been running around my head quite a bit of the time since, although the melody had become a little warped over time. This list forced me to dig into my memory and find this piece once more.

The first movement is sublime and it is the part that rolls around my brain many times in a week. It’s hard to follow, but when one part moves, the other is fairly static for a while, and then they move together in quite a brilliant way. Going into the music a little deeper, the dialogue between the two violins in the second movement is wonderful – it just sings to my soul. I never liked the third movement and don’t remember it quite so clearly, but I will have performed it.

My performance, obviously, would never have been at this level! To be honest, it would take a lot of work to get it anywhere near where I was 14/15 years ago now too. I must admit that Mrs Pitts has never even heard me play the violin, let alone anything like this – so there is a bit of doubt in her mind when I say that I played this, but I definitely did! If you have a spare 18 or so minutes, please let this enter your life.

A long time ago, in what feels like a galaxy far away, which was actually Morley in the early 21st Century, I played this piece of music as part of my A-Level recital alongside Mrs Wilkinson (?), one of the music teachers.
