This post, like so many others, may well be dull to many people.

Three caches were found today.

The first was ZetaYgraeca – Challenge (GC4FXFR). This requires to find 26 caches in alphabetical order and on separate days, starting at any point in the alphabet. All cache types counted for this challenge, but only 2 caches per day could be used to count towards this challenge. Caches starting with non-alphabetic characters can be used – the first letter after the non-alphabetic characters would count.

When we first came across this cache, it took a little while to work out whether we qualified. It was a glorious two hours going through a spreadsheet… only to find we had 25 qualifying caches if we began at L, then a K could be organised to fill that one gap. It wasn’t planned but it was on our way home. A standard urban cache on a sign.

Finally, we visited another cache called Cornered. This was another challenge cache. Every cacher has a 9 x 9 Difficulty/Terrain grid which obviously contains four corners. To grab this cache, you must have logged a cache at each corner. In other words we needed a find of: 1 Difficulty x 1 Terrain, plus 1 Difficulty x 5 Terrain, plus 5 Difficulty x 1 Terrain, and finally 5 Difficulty x 5 Terrain.

Here is our current grid:

DT Grid: after 1159 cache finds

All four corners are filled, so we could log this cache.

Our qualifying caches are:

D1/T1 – Gomersal Treasure (GC1Q062) 19/09/2010 – found on our first day out caching.

D1/T5 – QUANDARY IN A QUARRY (GC21DCC) 23/04/2011 – our only example of this rating.

D5/T1 – Taurus Excretum Mentus Confundy!
