R. Kaprekar\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/D._R._Kaprekar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">D. R. Kaprekar<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0mathematics\u00a0is a <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Sign (mathematics)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sign_%28mathematics%29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">non-negative<\/a> integer which when squared can be split into two parts that add up to the original number again.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, 45 is a Kaprekar number, because 45\u00b2 = 2025 and 20+25 = 45.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s why 297 is one:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>297 squared\u00a0= 88209.<\/li>\n<li>Breaking into two parts gives 88 and 209.<\/li>\n<li>88 + 209 = 297.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Anyway, today was another frustrating day at work. Not with the children, they have been really good this week. Working with some colleagues is proving difficult at the moment &#8211; the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Academic term\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Academic_term\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">half term<\/a> break can only give me a good chunk of time away from them, \u00a0but also I need to reset my head a bit after the mashing it has been through this week.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow night sees the first public performance of <em>Heroes<\/em> for ten piece brass band. I&#8217;m really looking forward to seeing how it goes down.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly for tonight, I&#8217;ve rediscovered <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"The Carpenters\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Carpenters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">The Carpenters<\/a>. Every couple of years I remember how good they are and how much I adore them. It was partly sparked by the use of <em><a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"A Song For You\" href=\"http:\/\/www.last.fm\/music\/Carpenters\/A%2BSong%2BFor%2BYou\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"lastfm\">A Song For You<\/a><\/em> in a <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Television program\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Television_program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">TV show<\/a> I saw recently. Love it.
