I&#8217;m slowly ramping up the difficulty of the tasks I&#8217;m setting and so far the majority of the class are sticking with me. I had to pull a few people along today though! All will be well. I think the summer holiday hasn&#8217;t helped &#8211; the majority of the children won&#8217;t have done a huge amount of writing in the time, for instance.<\/p>\n<p>One thing that stands out is the quality of presentation. I can&#8217;t remember a time when so many children were creating work of such a high standard at this time of the year. There is generally at least one child whose work is very hard to decipher, but not, it seems, with this cohort.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight was the first rehearsal back with Morley &amp; District <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Concert band\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Concert_band\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Concert Band<\/a> after our <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Summer vacation\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Summer_vacation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">summer break<\/a> &#8211; our busiest one ever! It didn&#8217;t really feel like we&#8217;d been away to be honest. It was a fairly quiet one overall &#8211; not much was played, but a lot of necessary chatter about the band. We&#8217;ve become fairly well known recently and in demand. My concern is that we are spreading ourselves too thinly and we are unable to move on as a result. I love playing out for people, but want to show off the band to their best too. It&#8217;s a hard compromise to make. I don&#8217;t know if we&#8217;ve got it right with four more concerts in the next four months.
