Madness, clearly, but this is what we do for a hobby.

This cache, GC4JE6M, Mr Tall, lives under a bridge spanning the cycleway. But it’s not easily accessible without a ladder as it’s roughly 8 or 9 feet about the ground. Anyway, Mrs Pitts’ dad was up like a shot, not really caring who saw him grab this little slice of geocaching rareness. He passed the item down for us to sign and then retuned it to a place very few people would look twice at. Fabulous. Here’s our log, followed by Lard and Pickle’s account of the adventure:

Having visited this a few times for a look before today we knew the task ahead of us – all of these previous visits were before it had been found. However, we didn’t have access to a necessary tool before today. We have also found a fair few of this series before today so we knew what we were looking for too. We had arranged to meet Lard & Pickle and a muggle known as Papa Flash… he owned the equipment we required, and in the end did most of the work for us – his only cache find is a 5/5! This is our second such cache though and a good beginning to September as it fills a calendar gap. Left a TB of some interest for others to pick up! TFTC SL

Met up with Flash and Grubbly and Papa Flash with his essential tool this morning on the Greenway! We weren’t quite expecting Papa Flash to be up the tool on our arrival, but that’s where we found him! After a quick hello, receiving some homegrown courgettes we instructed Papa Flash to have a grovel about and he passed the goods down, taking it in turns to sign, moving out of the way of 2 inquisitive cyclists, passing it back to PF to be replaced, job done. SL TFTC

The rest of the day was spent organising things for another Morley & District Concert Band performance, this time at Oakwell Hall. All went well, a good turn out. The major drama was a late start as five member of the band were stuck in some horrendous traffic on the M62. That, and the fact that we were advertised as being a brass band, meant that we needed to work hard to win the audience around. The people who frequent brass band concerts generally don’t follow concert or wind bands as well… Still, they seemed to enjoy it – our refreshed version of YMCA seemed to be a particular highlight along with our rendition of The Proclaimers‘ I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)!

The evening was filled with a two hour Grange Moor rehearsal. My head’s a little tired from conducting and playing for four hours overall. It appears to be fully over the migraine, which is good as I’m back at work tomorrow for the eight week term ahead of us. Except little caching talk and more about teaching from now on. Our plan is to try and grab one each day we have a gap in our calendar – such as today – and continue for as long as we can. The next day to have anything in it is the 8th September from last year when we found a cache whilst visiting friends in Horbury, GC32NC3!

Related articles

<ul class="zemanta-article-ul zemanta-article-ul-image" style="margin: 0;
