Today was a really good day. The meeting I had been planning ran fairly smoothly – only a few tangents were pursued, not bad for a maths meeting (there is a joke there, it’s a subtle one). I hope it will have the impact that the hours of planning and work deserve it to have. Time will tell I guess.<\/p>\n

In other news, Mrs Pitts rustled up a lovely hero’s welcome of home-made soup<\/a> and rolls for tea.<\/p>\n

This soup isn’t necessarily Mrs Pitts’ own creation. It’s from a wonderful Keelham Farm<\/a> idea – soup in a bag. For a pound! All of the\u00a0ingredients and the recipe are provided. In a bag. For a pound.<\/p>\n

I am reliably informed that, in order to create this concoction, and at the risk of sounding like Nigella<\/a>, you need to:<\/p>\n

  1. Peel and chop the carrots<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Chop the onion.<\/li>\n
  3. Peel the garlic cloves.<\/li>\n
  4. Saut\u00e9\u00a0the above in a hot pan with oil until softened, but not brown.<\/li>\n
  5. Add vegetable stock<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  6. Bring to the boil, then simmer with the lid on for 20 minutes – or until the carrots are soft.<\/li>\n
  7. Add the coriander and blitz with the blender.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Mrs Pitts also made the rolls.<\/p>\n

    Alongside this, an item from the Lakeland sale, Mrs Pitts’ favourite two words, received its\u00a0d\u00e9but\u00a0outing on our dining table. I give you, our cheese board:<\/p>\n

    As you can see, the variety of cheese on offer was quite exciting! We have Wensleydale<\/a> with cranberries, smoked Austrian, smoked Applewood<\/a>, Red Leicester<\/a> and Abbot’s Bronze. The latter is available from Keelham Farm’s Shop<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    At Keelham’s, there are goats. Mrs Pitts enjoys goats. Especially ones that are able to trip trap over a bridge as they can at Keelham. Also, when we were there, a tabletop sale was one of the main events. All our tables have tops, so we didn’t buy any.<\/p>\n
