I’ve decided to split the geeky maths things from my 365 blog into a separate strand so that those who don’t care, don’t need to read them.<\/p>\n

I’m going to begin with the number 146, since that’s the day I’m up to in my 365 project. Other posts in this series may or may not follow any pattern at all.<\/p>\n

146 is an octahedral number.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0number theory, an\u00a0octahedral number\u00a0is a set of numbers\u00a0which can be represented in an\u00a0octahedron\u00a0formed from\u00a0close-packed spheres.<\/p>\n

The first few octahedral numbers are:\u00a01,\u00a06,\u00a019,\u00a044,\u00a085, 146, 231, 344, 489, 670, 891…<\/p>\n
