It has nothing to do with anything.<\/p>\n<p>Today has been a nice day overall. Work was good, got a lot done in the afternoon. The two lessons I taught were ok &#8211; maths in particular, which covered all <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Angle\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Angle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">types of angles<\/a>, and how to find missing angles on\u00a0straight\u00a0lines, in triangles and <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Quadrilateral\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Quadrilateral\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">quadrilaterals<\/a>. This all followed work on the 6 times table and <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Prime number\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Prime_number\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">prime numbers<\/a>. I really enjoy pushing the children to improve their understanding and today was the first time in a while that all of that group have left that room feeling great about maths &#8211; previously, there have always been one or two children who struggle with the concept and only just get there as time ticks away and the lesson is over.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the massive downside to having a group you only see for an hour a day. You can never think, &#8220;I&#8217;ll just carry this on for five minutes this afternoon,&#8221; because that opportunity is gone. So for those children who take a little longer to settle into work, and need more time to process ideas, that additional time can be vital in improving.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, the day ended with band as usual on Thursday &#8211; I say usual, we don&#8217;t meet over school holidays so we&#8217;ve had two weeks off. All was lovely, some good playing.
