Today was the day that two more cars were launched, leaving just one – the Williams – to be seen at the next test next week. In other things, we completed a geocache<\/a> (GC3V9GP) in the cold wind and rain.<\/p>\n

Work was a fairly good day. Literacy at the moment is all about performance poetry which means making time for children to perform, for which they need practice. Numeracy is focussed on rotation, translation and reflection with the Year 6s. This afternoon, my class were merged with the Year 6s to focus on Safer Internet Day. An ever important part of school life, E-Safety is something that can be difficult to discuss. Making children aware of the right thing to do is always good for them too! I likened it to playing in the playground and considering how what you do out there, even though it is fairly free of rules, still requires some guidance in order to keep people safe. I think they got what I meant.<\/p>\n

Caterham launched its 2013 Formula 1 car<\/a> in the Jerez pitlane in the hour before winter testing began this morning and, yet again, this car is\u00a0an evolution of last year’s car. Last year, it finished 10th in the constructors’ championship and it will be looking to consolidate that position. It was some way off moving further up the field – and that’s with a pair of grand prix winners as drivers. However financial reality appears to have hit the team as both Heikki Kovalainen<\/a> and Jarno Trulli<\/a> have been replaced by Charles Pic<\/a> and Giedo van der Garde<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The car itself looks tidy although the nose is very ugly.<\/p>\n

Marussia also unveiled its latest car at Jerez this morning.\u00a0The team has developed well with a few big names on their pay roll. They finished 11th last year, however they had to release lead driver Timo Glock<\/a> for financial reasons and Max Chilton<\/a> is their only confirmed driver.<\/p>\n

The car looks very simple to me, but what do I know. Compared to the complexity of the bigger teams’ cars though they appear very far from the pack.<\/p>\n
