Now then, 1963 was the year that Doctor Who<\/a> was first broadcast. As I type this, I’m in my Doctor Who themed t-shirt of a knitted style TARDIS and Dalek. So, I quite like the programme.<\/p>\n

Today the BBC<\/a> announced that David Bradley<\/a> will play the first Doctor William Hartnell<\/a> in a BBC drama about Doctor Who’s creation to mark its 50th anniversary.\u00a0An Adventure in Space and Time<\/em> will tell the story of the BBC in the early 1960s:<\/p>\n

Bradley, known to millions for his role as Filch in the Potter series, said he was “absolutely thrilled” to be cast.<\/p>\n

Call the Midwife actress Jessica Raine and Scotland’s Brian Cox will also appear in the BBC Two commission.<\/p>\n

Cox will play Sydney Newman<\/a>, the BBC head of drama credited with the creation of the show, while Raine will play the producer Verity Lambert<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Filming will begin in February at BBC Television Centre, then move to Wimbledon Studios<\/a> in south-west London.<\/p>\n

The script has been written by Mark Gatiss, a regular Doctor Who writer who, like Bradley, has been seen in the show since its 2005 revival.<\/p>\n

Gatiss will act as executive producer of the one-off 90-minute drama, alongside Steven Moffat and Caroline Skinner.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Needless to say, I’m looking forward to watching that.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, a beautiful photo of the United Kingdom<\/a> from space during the recent snow has been taken by\u00a0NASA’s Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer on its Terra satellite<\/a>,.<\/p>\n

Snow blanketed most of Great Britain in late January 2013, stretching from London to the northern tip of Scotland. The\u00a0Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer<\/a>\u00a0(MODIS) on NASA\u2019s\u00a0Terra<\/a>\u00a0satellite captured this natural-color image on January 26, 2013. Only some coastal areas and the southwestern part of the island were free of snow when MODIS took this picture. Skies had mostly cleared by the time MODIS acquired the image, but some clouds lingered in the west, casting shadows onto the snowy surface below.<\/p>\n

On January 25,\u00a0The Telegraph<\/em> reported that the death toll from the storm was in the double digits, some of the deaths resulting from hazardous driving conditions. As of that date, more snowfall was expected, including near-blizzard conditions in parts of Scotland. Forecasters called for rain to follow the snow, with as much as 40 millimeters (1.6 inches) of rain in western Britain.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As you can see, nothing of note really happened to me today.<\/p>\n

We went to Grange Moor for a bit of a blow with the small band – that makes three different rehearsals with three different bands since Sunday. A Morley & District Concert Band one is tomorrow and I’m back with Knottingley on Saturday and Sunday. Busy, busy.<\/p>\n
