{"id":1464,"date":"2010-11-13T12:10:26","date_gmt":"2010-11-13T11:10:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thomasjpitts.co.uk\/wp\/?p=1464"},"modified":"2010-11-13T12:10:26","modified_gmt":"2010-11-13T11:10:26","slug":"formula-one-2010-abu-dhabi-grand-prix","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thomasjpitts.co.uk\/wordpress\/2010\/11\/13\/formula-one-2010-abu-dhabi-grand-prix\/","title":{"rendered":"Formula One 2010 &#8211; Abu Dhabi Grand Prix"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thomasjpitts.co.uk\/wp\/?p=1259\">Last week<\/a>, I wrote about the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"2009 Brazilian Grand Prix\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2009_Brazilian_Grand_Prix\">Brazilian Grand Prix<\/a> and the ways in which <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Fernando Alonso\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fernando_Alonso\">Fernando Alonso<\/a> could win the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"List of Formula One World Drivers' Champions\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_Formula_One_World_Drivers%27_Champions\">World Championship<\/a> at that race &#8211; him being the only one of the then five contenders that could do it.<\/p>\n<p>This weekend sees the 19th and final race of the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Formula One\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Formula_One\">Formula One<\/a> season and four drivers are still in with a chance of winning the title, with current World Champion <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Jenson Button\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jenson_Button\">Jenson Button<\/a> now eliminated from the title race after <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Brazil\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brazil\">Brazil<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The current standings look like this:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Fernando Alonso, 246 points<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Mark Webber\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mark_Webber\">Mark Webber<\/a>, 238 points<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Sebastian Vettel\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sebastian_Vettel\">Sebastian Vettel<\/a>, 231 points<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Lewis Hamilton\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lewis_Hamilton\">Lewis Hamilton<\/a>, 222 points<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>So&#8230; here&#8217;s how each of them can win the title this weekend.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fernando Alonso wins the title if he:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>is first or second;<\/li>\n<li>is third or fourth and Mark Webber doesn&#8217;t win;<\/li>\n<li>is fifth and neither <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Red Bull Racing\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Red_Bull_Racing\">Red Bull<\/a> driver wins;<\/li>\n<li>is sixth, with Webber outside the top two and Sebastian Vettel not winning;<\/li>\n<li>is seventh or eighth with Webber off the podium and Vettel not winning;<\/li>\n<li>is ninth with Webber outside the top four and Vettel outside the top two;<\/li>\n<li>is tenth with Webber outside the top five and Vettel outside the top two;<\/li>\n<li>doesn&#8217;t score, Webber doesn&#8217;t finish in the top five, Vettel doesn&#8217;t finish in the top two and Lewis Hamilton doesn&#8217;t win.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Mark Webber wins the title if he:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>is first with Alonso third or lower;<\/li>\n<li>is second, with Alonso outside the top five and Vettel not winning;<\/li>\n<li>is third, with Alonso outside the top six and Vettel not winning;<\/li>\n<li>is fourth, with Alonso outside the top eight and Vettel not winning;<\/li>\n<li>is fifth, with Alonso tenth or lower and Vettel outside the top two.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Sebastian Vettel wins the title if he:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>is first, with Alonso outside the top four;<\/li>\n<li>is second, with Alonso outside the top\u00a0eight\u00a0and Webber outside the top four.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Lewis Hamilton wins the title if he:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>is first, with Alonso failing to score, Webber outside the top five and Vettel outside the top two.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;m so looking forward to this&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"zemanta-pixie\" style=\"margin-top: 10px; height: 15px;\"><a class=\"zemanta-pixie-a\" title=\"Enhanced by Zemanta\" href=\"http:\/\/www.zemanta.com\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"zemanta-pixie-img\" style=\"border: none; float: right;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/img.zemanta.com\/zemified_e.png?w=1165\" alt=\"Enhanced by Zemanta\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, I wrote about the Brazilian Grand Prix and the ways in which Fernando Alonso could win the World Championship at that race &#8211; him being the only one of the then five contenders that could do it.
